UHMWPE
Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene
UHMWPE fibers are the lightest and strongest fibers commercially available, with a tensile strength 15x stronger than steel at the same weight. UHMWPE is created by a gel-spun extrusion process which draws out extremely long chains of polyethylene, aligned along a molecular backbone. This alignment effectively transfers load through the fiber for high modulus and strength.

The Challenge ULTRA™ line of fabrics is composed of the highest performing UHMWPE composite fabrics in the world.
In a class of its own, ULTRA™ represents a new paradigm in durability and weight. ULTRA™ weave is constructed with an optimal blend of UHMWPE & high-tenacity polyester. The tight weave is laminated with an eco-friendly adhesive to our high performance PET (polyester) film. The result is a textile that is incredibly strong, lightweight, and waterproof to 200 psi. ULTRA™ performs in the harshest environments, in both sub-zero and tropical climates.
Challenge ULTRA™ is the ultimate in ultralight pack fabric, with the strength to go the distance in the most demanding backpacks and duffels. Our woven ULTRA™ line, ranging from 100d to 800d, is elevating adventure sports to the next level.
UltraWeave™ Collection
Ultra100X - Our lightest UltraWeave pack fabric – at 3.3 oz/yd², it has double the tear strength and almost double the abrasion resistance of 500d 8oz Cordura®!
Ultra200X - Our most popular UltraWeave style. At just 3.9 oz/yd2, it far exceeds the technical properties of any similar weight fabric available on Planet Earth!
Ultra400X - 400d Ultra-PE is about 20% lighter, with four times the abrasion resistance of other 400d U-PE fabrics. A great all-purpose high modulus pack fabric.
Ultra800X - Doubling the denier of 400d gives Ultra800X the strength to go the distance in the most demanding packs and duffels.
